When the car is in 3rd gear and you put the power down it jumps out of gear, anyone had this prob before?
A new clutch was put in just over 12 months ago - althogh the mechanic was a steeming pile of **** i cant see the 2 things being related but what do i know??
Usually the reason is when a small ball or pad that hold the sleeve in place go. Its a open gearbox job.
Other than that, check your cables to the gearbox and the counter weight on the gearbox.
the car will be going in for part ex in a week or so if all goes well, is it a big job?
If it is then i can definately put up with it, if i dont do anything and drive it (keeping away from 3rd gear as much as possible) would it do any lasting damage to the gearbox etc??

I doubt its a job you can do yourself, Also doubt very much a garage would do it for less than £300.

a lot of these dealers take pxs to auction or scrap em. Don't feel sorry for a car dealer, They never lose

I suppose so, at the end of the day he doesnt really want a 2000 bravo, with or without the 3rd gear it will pick up the same in an auction (even if one door doesnt open!) Cheers
