Hey guys, I have got a problem with the car. One of the warning lights has started to turn on when I start the engine. It's the warning light number 1 from the picture below.

Actually it blinks a couple of times and then it goes off.
Yeah i had this problem a while back, it usually means one or more of the glow plugs are faulty. The car will start up and drive fine, but you might notice during the winter months that it takes a few turns for the car to eventually fire up. During summer you wont notice this except for the flashing warning light.
First test each glow plug with a multimeter, set the mulitmeter to beep, then remove the electronic caps on all the glow plugs and touch the top of the glow plug and the engine. If it beeps its good. If not its dead. If you find they are all ok, then there is a glow plug relay that can go faulty, but 9 times out of 10 it'll be a glow plug.
I make it sound easy, you need to remove afew things in your way to get close enough to the plugs. One bit of advice I can give you is to use blue tack in the socket.

The car still starts perfectly fine and the temp outside is about 0-5C in the morning. So if I have a couple of faulty glow plugs or even a faulty glow plug relay, will I be able to drive normally? Because I am not sure if I will be able to get this fixed pretty soon.
Yeah im good and i've still got the Bravo JTD. Its a good car and I can't fault it. Don't see the point in selling her when she costs me nothing to run but fuel.
Your car car will run and drive perfectly fine. The glow plugs are only required to start the car, once the engine is running they do nothing.
Yeah you can leave the problem till a later date.

Also when had this,
time the light flashing.
If it flashes for 30 seconds then it's wearing out and if it flashes for 60 seconds it is 'more' wearing out
Mine was flashing for 60 seconds and had hells work starting in feb when all that snow came. had them changed and all is well
Just one thing to add, the plugs do work after the car is started, but in small percentage. They do a small warmup when the engine is really cold.
Simplest way to check them is taking the caps of the plugs and measuring the resistance of them. Correct should be around 0,8 ohm, but if its colder they can be a bit higher. The ones with 0 resistance are faulty.
Change them before snow hits this part of the globe
ye glow plug light used to come on on my 105. It always started fine though. Apparently heater plugs ar'nt really needed to start newer diesels but stay on for a few minutes after cold starting to reduce emissions a little bit.
Check your battery connections. That light means the alternator isn't charging the battery or its output is insufficient. I had my alternator changed a few weeks ago as it was squeaking on start up. Cost £200 for a new o.e alternator, plus labour. Its not a easy job and it took 3-4hours to do.

Like Joske said. Take a multymeeter and measure the battery voltage when the engine aint running and when its running. Also check if your belt auxbelt has the right tension - when pressed with one finger it should bend down cca. 10mm.
Ok, I am first dealing the problem with alternator. The voltage on the battery was low.
So today the garage took off the alternator. It took them like 2+h to do that. They had to take off a lot of parts underneath.
I found a used alternator in good condition for like £45. The new one is too expensive for me at the moment, so we'll see if the used one works out well for me. I also bought that new auxbelt. Mine was really old and not in good condition.
It was low when the engine was running and and even lower when the lights were on. We did not check it when the engine was not running.
The mechanic guy fixed the alternator today and returned it back in the car. It seems to be good just like before. Now just need to buy glows plugs from somewhere and put them back in.
