overheating?

Hi, probably a stupid question, but I have recently bought an 01 plate Bravo 1.6 HLX. Previously I had a brava 1.2 and the temperature gauge took a while to rise, but on this car the temperature is upto just above the middle mark within a mile and moves slightly between the middle marker and the next little dot up and back down. I can feel the fan kicking in a few times and sometimes when I turn the engine off the fan keeps going for about 10 seconds. I get the impression the car is running too hot, although the needle hovers generally above the middle marker, and no warning lights are coming on is this normal, for this car to warm up so quickly etc, anyone else have the same model does yours do the same, or is this abnormal. Dont know much about cars but have checked water/oil levels which are ok.
Any help appreciated
Cheers
Bob

By the sound you will need a new thermostat or pump and bleeding of the system.

Sounds how my old B1 1.6 SX was on a normal day.
Doesn't sound amiss to me.
