Since our website may be down for a short while longer, here is the weekly info for the week of September 5, 2004 for those of you who have not joined the listserve as of yet.

      Hey Marathon Team-

Hope everyone had some good runs during the first week of practice. Next week we'll be having runs at the same times, although there will be no run on Monday. Also, next Wednesday is Party on the Plaza, and if any of you guys could volunteer to work at our booth for any amount of time between 10-5, it would be greatly appreciated, even if it's only a half-hour (or if you want to volunteer for more, that's also great. I think I'll be there the longest with a 4 hour shift, and if any of the more competitive team members feel the need to beat this record, let me know). Basically it would involve you sitting behind a table which has an enormous "UT MARATHON TEAM" sign draped over it, which is an awesome way to pick up members of the opposite sex and intimidate members of your own. Just e-mail me at figmant970@aol.com if you can help out.

I'll also be bringing RecSports forms to practices next week, and to officially join the team you'll need 1) to fill out this green form and turn it into one of the captains, and 2) $25 membership fee which goes towards a team t-shirt, pasta dinners before major races, and partial re-imbursements if you complete the Freescale marathon (Last year the re-imbursements were for $20). Please give the memberhsip fee to one of the captains in either cash or check form (you can address checks to either "UT Marathon Team" or, alternately, to Dave Paolino with the words "Help With Rent" written on the memo line).

The runs this week will be:

Tues: 8AM, meet in front of Gregory Gym.

Weds: Speed workout, 7PM, meet and Clark Field.

Thurs: 6:30PM, medium run, meet in front of Gregory Gym.

Also sometime next week the website should be back online. I just want to end this e-mail by emphasizing that Marathon Team is a running club, and while many memebers run marathons, not everyone does. If you like to run, or are just starting to run, come on down and don't be afraid. Runners are nice people; it's cyclists who are the jerks. Now, before I offend anyone else, See you at the runs!
