I hope to find out who built this hydro. Since there were more than one. How about the F-22 visible on that last picture- how could that be traced?
My boat sat in the barn since '74. Hundreds of partying people did see it over the years but no one cared I guess.
The story goes that this guy named John got it from a widow, probably did not pay her a red cent for the boat. He would pull it around bars and brag about running it on this or that lake. And these two brothers decided to buy it and have some fun. Well, when they started the motor for first time it blew the heads off due to mild steel bolts used by someone. First they thought to change the motor but fixed this one after all. Got the motor running and towed the boat to a lake in UP Michigan where they have a place. Started it again and the whole town came running to see this beast. They were told to run the boat with no plugs in- so they nearly sank the boat and never got it running. Towed it back home (Chicago area) and put it in the barn.
One thought they had is that the fuzzy finish soaked a lot of water, so one brother started to remove it bit by bit. By the time he was done with the entire deck, he got tired of it and lost intrest in it. For good;)))) She sat in that barn for 35 years!
As far as I know nothing was broken, this rig is complete.
