It is really sad that there are so few Republican politicians who are socially liberal. If anyone finds one, they should certainly give them some positive feedback. I remember a few from the 60s who were republican and socially liberal/moderate. In the USA, if a person is a social liberal (for example, believes in topfreedom, or that gay people shouldn't be burned at the stake) and at the same time is fiscially conservative (no budget deficits, close tax loopholes), it is very difficult to find people who vote for. I know, I used to be a Republican, and faithfully read books by Barry Goldwater. Today, things are different; it is really sad that religious repression so often goes hand in hand with political conservatism. Many of the movers and shakers of the party in power would not only fine topfree women, but would, if they had the chance, send their children to protective custody. If you have any doubt, just send a letter to someone like John Ashcroft and ask him what he thinks of topfree beaches. Again I say, moderate republicans are to be cherished. Anywone on this forum who find a Republican who is for topfreedom, please send me their address, because I want to send them a letter of encouragement.
