I agree, it is cultural conditioning. Unfortunately, in this conservative climate of today, can it change as easily as you imply? As I understand, even the European topless beaches are suffering from this mentality.
I also do not think a man can ever understand the female perspective....with all due respect. Men have traditionally been the "dominant culture". Those who have been part of the dominant culture cannot totally understand those who have been dominated. As a middle-class white person, I will never fully understand what it means to be a person of colour in an impoverished environment. I can certainly empathize and try to learn about the other, but I will never fully "know" what it is to walk in their shoes.
