No you are not wrong to question the statement, but I would have done so without making it personal to Melissa.
I would have said something like: "I don't think it's fair to say that all men who have beards have poor hygiene".
Now that is not a personal attack. It's disagreeing with an opinion which is fine.
Now lets' look at what you wrote:

You appear to have a negative pigeon hole for everyone who doesn't fit your approval, or when you have the need to make your behaviors appear more acceptable."
Words like "You" and "your behavior" are personal- and that what makes this a personal attack.
Melissa never used such words to you or even mentioned your name. I'm sure you weren't even in her mind when she wrote her posts. That why I felt this was unjustified attack and reminded you in a polite way that this was against the forum rules. |
