You covered at lot there, Boreas. As for make-up, I think women wear way too much of it. What is wrong with natural beauty? Even if it not Madison Avenue's concept of beauty. My wife wore no make-up at all when I married her in 1970 and rarely after that. If others didn't think she was "beautiful" it didn't matter because I did and that was all that mattered.
As to societal trends, it's hard to discuss the US and Canada together because I think Canada is a good bit more liberal than the US and is becoming more so. I frankly don't see much liberal trend in the US now, other than I think young people are more accepting of different races, religions and homosexuality. But in other ways- such as sex, nudity and brafreedom they are less liberal than their parents were.
