We are getting into a very interesting area here- at least to me- don't you wonder where people's phobias and fetishes come from? It is common knowledge that people have illogical phobias about things- some fear closed spaces, some fear open spaces, high places, dark places, certain animals- the list is endless. Likewise, cruise around the internet- especially in Yahoo's groups and you will find people have the most bazaar fetishes- usually relating to sex- some have foot fetishes, some have underwear fetishes, some have whips and chains fetishes, some have running naked in the rain fetishes- the list is endless. And they are often diametrically opposite- some love skinny girls- some love fat girls- on and on.
What accounts for all these permeations in human thinking? Contrary to popular notion- in most cases they can't be traced to any specific childhood event- often children will react to something not because of the event but because they seem programmed to react to a event other people would dismiss without a second thought. It's as if it was pre-programmed into their neonatal mind. Some have suggested this is the best evidence for reincarnation- that these phobias and fetishes that are vestiges from a previous life. Reincarnation has never made sense to me- but I have no other explanation for the origin of these strange phobias and fetishes either. |
