We'll have to agree to disagree as the cliche goes.
But I still don't think you guys realize just how bad so many people had it in the 1950s especially racial minorities. Imagine being black in the south and not being able to vote, can't go by law to the state university even though you pay taxes and can get drafted in the army. In Tennessee, blacks couldn't even go in the public libraries till 1961. You can go to the state fair, zoo and museums one day a week, but you can't eat at the restaurants or stay at the same hotels or drink from the same water fountain as white people.
The good old days weren't so good for some folks and here in the south that was a significant part of the population.
This alone makes today better.
