I would agree with Nat. Manhatten for example has thinner people, alot due to walking, and of course vanity. But one who visits would assume all of NY STate is that way. Go upstate and you'll see your share of obesity. In rural america, its typical of people to have to drive everywhere because of the distance and lack of reliable, frequent public transportation.

If you've ever travelled abroad (anybody has), it's pretty common for people in Europe, places like Englans (and especially France when I visited) to make the assumption that all Americans are obese. It's really in an inside running joke.

Oddly enough, those same American bashers are the first ones buying one-way tickets to America the second they get a work visa...
