Brandon, can you tell me how it makes sense to have a profit-hungry business between you and your doctor who is only interested in charging you or your employer as much as he can and paying out as little as he can on your healthcare so he can keep the rest (typically 20-30%) for highly-paid executives, stock holders and operating expenses? If this is a good system why are we the only advanced country in the world who does it this way? And why do we have the highest healthcare cost in the world? Do you not see a connection?
People talk about a "government run system" like its a terrible idea when in fact we have had Medicare for 40 years which people are very happy with and which operates with much higher efficiency than private companies and charges way less premiums than any private company does.
Lets face it- the only reasons the public is against healthcare reforms is because they have been fed nothing but lies and distortions about it from millions of dollars worth of TV ads from insurance companies intent on keeping their high-profits going and by Republicans who want to hurt Obama and the Democrats.
