Can you give me examples of government agencies who pay their executives million dollar salaries? Or stockholders millions in dividends? The profits that private companies rank off our healthcare dollars is obscene.
Having a uniform computerized payment system is a major objective of a government system. People like to knock the government but considering how many people they deal with they do a good job. I've had far less screw-ups dealing with the government than I have with private companies.
As for the price component- nowhere is there so much overcharging for service as in the American healthcare system. Other countries keep their citizens healthy for a fraction of what we pay. If there is a shortage of medical personnel- we'll train more- like we do in the military. It would be cheaper to provide free medical training to qualified people than continue the mess we have today.
