Response to Re: Black culture

There is, will always be, some excuse why some group does not succeed. Comedian Chris Rock got rave applause when he said at his comedy concert, "When you're White, 'the sky is the limit'. But when you're Black, the limit is the sky!" But I like to point up those immigrants who float in on rafts, maybe don't even speak English, and they work hard and end up owning their own business in 5 years. A more accurate paraphrasing of Rock's comment would be: When you are American-born, all you see is obstacles. When you are born in a truly impoverished country and you come to U.S., all you see is opportunities. Same reality, but vastly different perceptions.

Nat: A local Black DJ made a similar observation as yours about the music: That when growing up, there was all this soul music that talked about love and hope and helping one another . . and now it is all about women as B's and Ho's, putting a "cap" in someone, and wanting to kill cops. So much more opportunity today than in the 50's and 60's, but the hope and love has been replaced by violence and hate.
