Yes Chris- "systematic oppression of African Americans has slowed considerably"- in fact, its gone so far that it's whites who are often discriminated against now- when a new position opens up many companies are oblige to hire a black even over a more qualified white.
When I said the Civil Rights movement had failed- I mean that too many blacks have failed to take advantage of the opportunities they have been given. They can't expect to succeed when they drop out of school to hang around street corners. As for reparations- that's a pure cop-out! What happen a century ago has nothing to do with blacks' failures now and giving them money would solve nothing.
