When a large majority of Americans identify themselves as Muslims, then I think we could consider changing "under God" to "under Allah." As any casual observer has seen, my position has been -- first and foremost -- the majority should decide things like this. If we followed majority rule, that would result in the greatest number of people feeling satisfied with the outcome. This high degree of citizen satisfaction would optomism, civic pride and ownership. More Americans would feel that "This REALLY IS my country!"
Contrast that with the current situation: The great majority of Americans today feel very concerned and dissatisfied with how things are being handled. They see special interest groups . . lobbyists . . . using the courts to force things upon the American people that most don't want (and there are always people who feel dissatisfied that the rulling didn't go far enough . . "How dare they allow 'God' on our money! I don't believe in God! My rights are being violated!") Today, Americans have been divided into warring factions, each dissatisfied and each fighting for their own way. in a word, they have been "disenfranchished" from the land of their birth. I say, "Put it to a vote. Let Americans decide how their country will be . . . and tell those who end up in the minority that they can either accept 'the will of the people' or find a country more to their liking."
If I could be King, I would put this country back on the right path!
