There are significantly fewer kids per family now than 50 years ago. In fact, the number of kids per family is probably the least it's ever been, especially among whites. And while it's true people have a lot of electronics now, technology has made it relatively cheap compared to back in the 1950s when TV sets were hand-built with wires and components individually soldered in and required many hours of labor. Today they are made with printed circuits stamped out by automatized machines at a fraction of the cost. But its true the average house is larger and more expensive now, which is ironic since families are smaller and should need less house.
