You posted about your love of the challenge . . . the thing that used to matter in sports like Major League Baseball, National Football League, National Basketball Association, among other big-time sports. The money has reduced these sports to mere facades of what I/you knew as youth.
The "solution" for many has been to start following the "lesser" sports: The high school and small college teams, soccer, the minor and semi-pro leagues . . the Class A or AA teams . . . . the ones the crowds ignore . . . the ones that dare not make demands, as not many people are patronizing them as it is.
Better yet . . as you have done . . . we can start PARTICIPATING in sports ourselves, instead of watching . . . with health benefits to boot.
P.S. I still follow my favorite teams . . . . especially Ohio State football. I just don't spend money to attend games (if you could even get a ticket for OSU!) or to purchase team merchandize. So say I don't REALLY support the teams I cheer for . . . DAMN STRAIGHT!!
P.S.S. Two female co-workers joined/made the new local roller derby team . . . haha . . . I will be watching them starting in August. Go Mandi Mayhem!!!
