Bob, you're every bit as jaded as you think I am. You talk as if everything back when these decisions were made are like they are today and that everyone back then knew about 9/11 and the wars and everything that has happen since. No one back then could have anticipated all these changes. If they could- 9/11 would have never happened.
The mortgage change rules were made during the Clinton administration so it had nothing to do with "bringing down Bush". It was made at a time the country was at peace and the economy was booming. Just because someone is a congressman doesn't give them or their staffs magical powers to see the future. "Experts" are fooled all the time by unanticipated events.
And I never said the Democrats were so sure what Bush was telling them was false- some may have had their doubts but after the biggest terrorist attack in the history of the country- you give the president what he says he needs to defend the country. Your logic of blaming the Democrats for what Bush did makes no more sense than blaming a car salesman because someone is later killed in accident.
