There are ways to combat that and laws that limited liability. You can set it up to be notified of any charges more than a certain amount and you can't be held responsible for more than $50. And there will be a record of any fraudulent use which will enable the perpetrators to be tracked down. By contrast- with physical money you have no protection at all if its lost or stolen and no way to trace it once its gone.
