Odd question

I've got a cold today, and when I sneezed my wife asked "when you sneeze, do your nipples get hard?".

It never occurred to me to check, but apparently hers do (get tingly too). I suspect it's a result of goosebumps in general when she sneezes, but she never thought of that - she's experienced this all her breast-owning life, and never thought of it as unusual.

So we'll both be checking for goose bumps or nipple response when we sneeze for the next little while, but what about anyone else here? Do you notice sneezing - or anything else odd - triggering nipple action?

Goose bumps and nipples

September 12 2004, 11:50 PM

I think anything that causes the subcutaneous muscles to contract (forming goose bumps) will cause the nipples to erect. Being cold is the most common cause ofcourse but being startled or frighten will too- a vestige response from when animals fluff up their fur to appear larger. And sometimes it just seems to happen for no obvious reason- and if you are still at the time, the nipple tightening sensation is noticeable. I've never noticed this while sneezing- but then you are usually too preoccupied with the sneeze to notice more subtle sensations.

"I've got a cold today, and when I sneezed my wife asked "when you sneeze, do your nipples get hard?"."

It happens to me. Not with every sneeze, but if I'm having a sneezing fit from a cold or allergies or something, my nipples will react.
