I bought a B2200 motor (which had a bad head gasket). The coolant got into the oil. The truck sat for a short time before I got the engine. I drained it immediatly and tore the engine down but I did NOT boil the block. Big mistake. There was a little residual bit of anti freeze in the oil galleys. The dried up anti freeze crystalized into black crusty bits and took the brand new bearings out in less than 10 miles. Shoot. Let this be a lesson to you other shade tree mechanics. So I am going to put some of that nasty cleaner stuff in the oil for the 10 minute 'flush' and hopefully that will get the last of the stuff out. Then I will slip the pan off and replace the rod bearings for $9.00 (JISENGINE.COM). This truck is For Sale!!!! |
