I've been corresponding with a few people regarding the supercharger problems on the Mazda Millenia S. I've just spoken with my mechanic (again) and there was a misunderstanding on my part. With respect to the oil-consumption by the supercharger - hence the smoke during startup, Mazda has issued a bulletin (I'm working on getting a copy) stating that this is "normal" and that replacement of the supercharger should NOT be considered. According to the bulletin, Mazda is in the process of determining what corrective measures are available, but for the time being, are advising Millenia owners that no maintenance/repairs should be carried out. I appologize for the misunderstanding. When a copy of the bulletin is received, I can fax it to you if you wish a copy for your files.

don't be too complacent about the smoke burn on start up. i just toook it as a normal thing until one day there was oil all ove the garage floor. Took it into dealer and they informed me that the oil had leaked into the compressor and blown the seals. So now it was blowing engine oil into the motor. Mega smoke on start up after that. The parts are only available as a component for $7500.00 (fortunately for residents of the us this is canadian dollars) Ok got a new compressor and still got the oil burn problem at start up so got the pcv valve replaced. same old problem now i have to watch for oil cnsumption to see if it will go from 1qt/1000km to something near zero
