All,
Just had my engine rebuilt and now it is leaking oil. Took it back to the mechanic and he replaced the rear seal and it still leaked. Took it apart 3 times and said it had stopped leaking. Drove it 2 days and now it is leaking again. It is coming from the rear of the engine and not from the top of the block. Leak is not gushing oil, just a few drips every 5-10 mins.
Any ideas where it could be leaking from?
Thanks,
Greg

Damn that sounds weird. Considering you had the tranny off you still couldnt see where it was coming from? there is your rear main seal, there is also your cam seal up at the back of your block, mine leaked there, but generaly not with a new seal in it.
I'm stumped but there is a good solution. There should be a shop around there that can dye your oil. All they do is add some stuff that glows under a specific light, they put it in, you run it for a couple days ( minutes for you ) and they put it under a light to see where its coming from.
Thats the best alternative I can think of. I'm not sure what its called, but if you ask a good shop I'm sure they have it.
I Hope this helped a bit..

hey! my b2200 leaked oil from the rear of the engine too but my problem was a clogged pvc system that was building pressure in my engine and oil was being forced out. check that and make sure your engine can breath. hope you find out what on the go =0) all the best

you or your mechanic have probably done this already, but if not, get under the car and check the oil pan/ engine block seal. I had a leak there once and it took a long time to find it.

i had this same problem on a 69 Mustang, i know completely different animal, but my problem turned out to be a bur or somthing that kept cutting into the rear seal it took 5 trips to the garage for that one, once remove the leak stoped. something to think about?
