I recently got a different starter for my RX-7. After putting this starter on, it only grinds really bad. it is almost like the teeth on the starter are not fully meshing with the teeth on the flywheel. can anyone possibly tell me what I can do to fix this problem?? Please?? I am without transportation til I figure it out.
Rebecca

One thing for sure --don't keep starting it with that starter. If it tears up the flywheel teeth, you'll be out of plenty bucks getting a new flywheel put in.

Maybe they sold you the wrong starter?

Maybe they sold you a defective starter?

Maybe it was installed incorrectly?

I didnt realize there was a wrong way to put on a starter... how can something be wrong..?? it only goes in one way... Also, it cant be the starter being bad... I got a brand new one from NAPA.... $130 worth... I was told the engine is locked up.. but we got it to turn with a socket on the Harmonic Balancer... I am wondering if one of the cables from the Battery to the starter is burnt or something.. just enough to get SOME current to the battery, but not enough to start it.. it only clicks now... Maybe you have some ideas... thanks...
