backfireing and lack of power after new timeing belt

ok

after installing a new timeing belt on my 93 mx6 i have a few problems

low/lacking power and backfireing on deceleration

now i am wondering if i was 1 tooth off on the left side

so with the simptoms i gave can anyone tell me if i am more likely too far advanced or too far retarded on the cam timeing

any help is appreciated

Go back and check evrything. Also, do a injector test, and a compression test for the motor. Just to be on the safe side.

Do a quick engine vacumm check. incorrect valve timing will has low vacumm reading.

It is very easy to mess up the timeing when messing witht he belt. You may have to play with it a bit to get it right. If it was running fine before you replaced the belt I doubt it is any other problem. But check all of that stuff anyways. You may also have to adjust your distributor a bit, I have always had to readjust the distributor after doing anything to the upper end.
