I hit a telephone pole pretty good with my '98 (30-40MPH), it cut off on its own but cranked right back up and ran before it hit the shop.

I'm guessing if you were in a collision that involved a blow to the engine and it's not cranking then you've got a mechanical problem.

Is it even trying to turn over or is there not even clicking noise when you turn the key?

the car will turn over and start for like 3-5 secs then its like it isn't getting any fuel and it cuts off i was thinking that once in a collision the fuel pump would auto shut off to prevent leakage if there was a fire. because i know some cars do that.
Anyway thanks for any help

Security light flashing?

What's the security light doing? The little red key dash light that flashes at start up, will continue to flash if there's a problem with the security system.

If I try to start my 98 626 with the valet key, it will start and run for exactly three to five seconds and then stalls out. Freaked out the first time this happened, until I read the owners manual, that's exactly what it's designed to do.

Maybe your column isn't recognizing your key, or the security system's screwy after the jolting?
