Weber Carb on '86 B2000

Has anyone tried the Weber electric choke DGEV carb kit on a otherwise stock engine? I have an '86 with 242,000 and the stock carb secondary side is not pulling in. A kit and float are about $60. Most of the vacuum lines are starting to crack and some of the linkage is worn almost through. I have used this Weber on several other cars but most had headers and cams installed along with the carb.
Not asking for opinions, only want to hear from someone who is or has used this carb on a stock truck.
Thanks.
