My 1998 626 LX-V6 steering wheel squeaks sometimes. It's quite soft, you only hear it during parking when there is no other sounds.

The dealership wants to replace the "steering gear" for $1500! That's a lot of money. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The exact same thing has just started to happen to my Mazda 323, but only when I reverse and turn the steering wheel a little, not while driving as normal.

Any ideas how to solve this small problem. Seem like it just needs lubricating somewhere.

I have 99 626 V6 lx. I got same problem wen i am stop and start moving the wheel some strange sound apear like a cranck realy low. Can this make me some problem in future?
