On a scale of 10, how would you scale the mazda 929 (92-96) in terms of integrity, reliability, and performance. I am not too interested in internal appearance. What do you think are the common problems of that vehicle?

My 929 is a 94 model. It's been a wonderfull car. . . Except, parts can be shockingly expensive. Local dealers may not be familiar with the detailed aspects of this car. The sunroof quit working recently. The gears on the motors were stripped because the cables were frayed and jammed up. Replacement including labor is $1500 US. YEEE-HAA!!! Power window motors tend to go out. They're around $400 each installed. The dealer says that if the A/C compressor goes thats $1600 just for the replacement compressor, not including any hoses or clamps or labor. Major transmission repairs can be more than the value of the cars blue book. Another weak spot is the interior door panel. There are insuffecient mounting points and repeated pulling on door handles breaks them loose. It's not repairable according to the dealers and aftermarket trims shops I've talked to. A new factory door panel is $1100 plus install cost.
Overall it's a good car. Fast good looking reliable mechanicaly, but the odd bits and pieces are extremly expensivs. If you have to have one have a big check book!

whatz poppin playa i too own a mazda 929 a 92 and i really have no problem with my whip because i treat it like what it is a luxury car. i know a lot of people who complain if transmission problems the sun roof and things like that but if u beat on it like its a honda civic u gonna have problems that cars was built for comfort not performance. as far as what u are paying for parts u gettin ripped off hit up junk yards, ebay, carbuyers market classifield news pappers in ya town that car is realitively old and u should not be paying high prices for anything on that car if it does not have to do with the motor.right now just trying to find a chip and any custom interior accessories for the car i just need a little mor horse power im in ny where u from fam? holla at ya boy..

Purchased this car new. It has 103,000 with absolutely no issues! Change the oil every 3000 miles, one battery, and a couple of brake pad sets. Infact, I'm selling this one and buying a 1998 Millenia.
