Anyone know if a 49 state 2.0 liter 86 b2000 engine will work in an 88 b2200 pick up for smog in California. The truck was given to me with a seized motor, and have the possibility of getting an 86 b2000 engine and want to knoow if it would work.

Swap shouldn't be a problem, drop it right in. As for the emissions I don't have a clue.

I'll be putting a 2.2l in my '86 B2000 as soon as I get the money. I'm doing this so that I can potentially use a turbo from a 626 or a Probe on the engine; I'm glad to hear that it will be an easy swap. I assumed that it would be, but nothing ever seems to work out as easy as it would appear.
