I just read something on here about a head swap on a b2000 and it mentioned somethign about a cam and lifter change for a b2200.......so what your saying is if I put the cam and lifters from a 8v 626 in my b2200 it'll put out alot more power? should I change the whole valve train or just the lifters and cam? what years around does the 626 8v cam and lifters come off of that will bolt right up? thanks for the info...greatly appreciated

626 interchange stuff

Well most of the stuff on the older 8v 626 stuff is designed for less air flow because it is 2.0 liters. It has lash adjust lifters on it as opposed to the hydroulic ones the the B2200. When building a 2.2l for power the lash adjust are pretty much required because at high power and rev levels the hydroulics collapse and you valve train starts going to crap. The lash adjust are solid and allow you to essentially tune all of your valves. The 626 stock valves are smaller, and I don't think anybody in here knows if the cam will add or decrease your power. It is interchangeable but I do not know lift and duration specs on the cam, nor do I know if any of it is larger than the B2200 cam. The only logical guess I can make is the B2200 is a truck and the 626 is a car, so I would presume that the B2200 cam will have more torque and the 626 cam will have more hp. Which means most likely the only difference between the two is duration. I do have specs though on how many degrees the intake and exhaust valves are suppose to open and close though if anybody wants them. I'll prb post them later.

but are the lifters interchangeable also? or do you have to take off the head and change the valves and stems and everything?

Rocker Arms

You will need the rocker arms and the lifters, lash adjust lifters are built into the rocker arms, the hydraulics just pop right in and out. You can take the entire rocker arm assembly, which is what I would do, or you can change just the rocker arms. You'll see what I'm talking about as soon as you see it. The valve stems aren't different enough to matter, all you need is the rocker arms.

I have started a B2200 forum here is the link:
