My 92 protege has a distributor with an optical pickup. The later models have a magnetic pickup. The housing has a different bolt pattern. (older - bolts at 180 degrees apart, newer - bolts at 90 degrees apart). The wiring connecter is the same. Do these distributers produce the same signals and could I swap the guts from the newer one to the older one?
