| Adding 2 12" subs to a 95 Mazda 626 sedan, suggestions/opinions requiredSeptember 23 2002 at 2:22 AM No score for this post | BeastOfLove |
| I have installed a very high quality CD-deck in my car, along with new speakers. I was thinking of adding subwooders to my car. As all you guys out there with a 626 already know, there is no space to install subwoofers unless they are in the trunk. I don't have much experience with subwoofers for cars, so I need your opinion on my idea. I plan on getting 2 12" subs and stick them into one of those dual subwoofer boxes. Then I'll stick that, along with my amp, into my trunk. Now since I need the rear seats, I will not fold them down. This means the subwoofers will be in a closed space, good or bad idea?
I know it's not the best idea but I don't have many options here. I thought of installing them into the read passenger side doors, but subwoofers are quite thick so I don't think I could install them. The little dash in the rear which holds the 5"x7" speakers could only support 8" subwoofers, but I don't think they make them so small. Any other suggestions of where to install subs, or should I stick with the origonal plan? |

Putting your subs in the trunk is the only way you want to go. Having an enclosed trunk is good too because the whole trunk ends up acting kind of like a really big sub box. In my experience it's best to have a sealed box for the two subs if it's in an enclosed space (sedan). A hatchback is a different story....for that you'd want a ported box. I've installed many many systems for myself and friends. If you need any other info let me know and I'll help you out. You'll have some mean clear sounds with 2 12's and a sealed box trust me.
