I have performed a brake job on my 1989 Mazda MX-6. I replaced the front brake pads, rotors, calipers and the rear drums, shoes, hardware, parking brake cable and all brake lines to the rear and front of the car. The brakes work fine, however the parking brake will not hold the car. The cable is adjusted properly and I have tension in the brake handle. Originally, I thought that I had backed off the slack adjusters so far that they would never adjust, and I think I was right. However, I re-adjusted them and re-installed the rear drums. Same problem. Now I am wondering if I have a problem with the rear wheel cylinders or if bleeding the brakes created a problem in the proportioning valve block on the firewall. what am I overlooking?
