98 Millenia Bose locked or unlocked?

Is the Bose "CD/Cassette/tuner" audio system locked by default on a 98 Millenia S. I just bought the car and the place I purchased it knows nothing about a "CODE". My Mazda dealer said he will not intentionally "Lock" a stereo meaning he will not remove power from the unit. He said they plug a device into the cigarette lighter to keep 12 volts applied to the radio. He also said the process to unlock it would take several hours and hundreds of dollars.
I don't believe him. He also told me that a duplicate primary ignition key would cost $200.00.

Is this a line or the truth?

I have a 99 millenia and Have inquired about a new key being made. The key hdoes not cost $200 dollars to duplicate. The dealer cost is between @60-$90 dollars and the price to the customer is usually around $120 dollars.

no it do not cost that much it cost about $45 to recode your radio take your car to a mazda dealer and they will do it for you if they say it cost to much then check different dealers but before you do that check your owners manual the code might be writin in there or ask who you brought the car from to put the code in for you. you do not have to pay them because you brought the car from them they were suppose to put the code in before you broughtthe car.
