the passenger side front brake on my 1996 626 sticks occasionally resulting in a glowing disc. when i jack it up after this has occured and spin the wheel ,it seems to run without binding .i've stripped it down ,cleaned up the pad guides ,cleaned up the pegs that the caliper slides on and all contact points have been lubed with anti-seize compound .if checked the disc for warp by watching the gap between the pad and disc when rotating and the gap stayed constant .any ideas? thefont pads and discs were changed 12 months ago -corrosion on inside face of disc.

I had a similar problem on my 98 626 (except it was the rear caliper) about a month ago. My uncle did pretty much the same thing you did, except the one thing that stood out was: he cleaned off the caliper pin (peg) and coated it with high temperature grease, then he swung the caliper up & down working the grease into it. We originally thought I was going to have to buy a new caliper for the rear, but somehow working the caliper back and forth did the trick.

Paul.

What is the condition of the flexible hose connecting the caliper to the metal brake line?

If the hose is failing, it sometimes expands under pressure and causes the caliper to remain pressurized after releasing the pedal, causing problems that appear to be a due to a sticking caliper. The pressure releases after a while, freeing up the brakes.

I would replace the hoses (Both sides).

Let me know how that works

Rick
