Disconnect the battery and hold the brake pedal down for 5 seconds. This clears the PCM memory.

I had the same thing as well. I will try it. Another thing should I begin running the car with the overdrive switch on or off, becuase when I drive on the highway, after 15-minutes or so, the overdrive light flashes off, but when I press the button to start it, it doesnt turn on,,help!

The blinking O/D light means that there could be a tranny circuit problem.
It could be as simple as a transmission sensor gone bad or as worse as a "new" not rebuilt tranny is needed.

I have the same problem. My tranny blew without warning at 105k & I had it rebuilt now at 118k 6mnths later the o/d light is now flashing.....Pray for me & I'll pray for you. Also if enough people complain to mazda about their tranny problems they will recall the tranny. Check around the web for open lawsuits & numbers.Or better yet contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

Yeah, I have the same thing happening on a 98 626 - after about 80 miles, the light starts blinking and it shifts like hell. You can reset the blinking light, by turning the key 3 times into the ignition position (not starting), and back off. It resets the computer. As for the warning, it could be a stuck solenoid ($$$) or just a bum sensor. I just had a tranny rebuilt, and was really freaked by this OD light blinking, but its still under warranty. As for you - Good luck, and pray you dont have a fucked up tranny. Cause that shit will cost you a ton. 4 grand at a dealer - 2 at cottman's.
