Does anyone know where the alarm module is located for a 1991 Mazda 626? It is a factory alarm. I would like to disconnect it so that I can lock my doors again.

It only happens when the weather starts getting cold... I don't even have to lock my doors for this to happen.

It would drive neighbors insane until I disable the horn, now its just the lights flickering but this runs down the battery and I know there are safety issues with not having a working horn.

I didn't even know my car had a security system. We bought it used a year ago and just last week my son borrowed the car and it happened to him. We've always locked the doors by pushing down the drivers door lock and holding the door handle up to close it. He went to unlock the car and the alarm went off when he opened the drivers door. He calls me with the car going crazy and asked how to shut off the alarm. I had no idea, so I suggested taking a battery cable off and then back on. He did that and it reset the alarm until the next time he unlocked the car. I read somewhere else on here that you can use the truck lock to reset the alarm. I sure sould use some advice on deactivating the system or figuring our what's gone wrong. Thsi car also has a keyed lock on the shifter that was not functioning when I bought the car. You had to turn a key on the console to put the car in gear. I took off the console and fixed the switch so it was always unlocked. I'm thinking their might be a connection here, but it's been over a year since we bought the car and I fixed the console lock. Any help appriciated. Just email me. Thanks

A couple years ago I bought this 91 626 and had it for 6 months when I discovered it had an alarm. It went off when I unlocked the truck. I was in the process of checking the car over before taking to get inspected. From troubleshooting the system I found the problem in the wiring going to the trunk lock. The wiring was factory and untouched. When I peeled back the wrapping, I found the wire for the alarm was cut with the ends just touching. There was no signs that the wires were cut with diagonal cutters. It was like the factory just laid the ends of the wires together and wrapped them up. I don't know how often this happens, but it could explain alot of intermittant problems. Comments?
