I have a 95 millenia s. My car starts fine when cold. When it is warm I have to hit the gas to start.
The car has also lost all of its acceleration once it is warm. A couple of minutes into driving the TCS OFF light comes on and any acceleration over 2500rpms it will completely kick down. In order to drive it I have to accelerate like a Grandma. The Engine light also comes on if I drive it gently for a couple of days it goes off. I have taken it in a couple of times they have replaced the fuel pupm, filter, air vacuum hoses. No one can tell me what the problem is.

Most likely the problem lies in the TCM or PCM.

What's a TCM & PCM

My 95 Millenia S started reacting exactly as Ryan's, yesterday. Engine lite on, TCS light on. What's a TCM & PCM? The on-off TCS button would not function while the car was running. Although after turning the engine off and back on the button functioned properly. I was just glad to make it home.

TCM=traction control module, PCM=powertrain control module. You most likely have some broken vacuum T's above the timing cover going into the intake. This will cause a TCS malfunction. Though there are many other things that cause it this is most prevelant.

My 95 S does the exact same thing, the highest I can get it to rev is about 3000rpm. It just won't go more than that, I also have to drive like a grandpa. I've checked the vacuum lines behind the rear intake manifold area... I guess I'll have to try them again. Someone mentioned near the timing cover (I think) but if I remember right there is only a loop with check valves there?

I recomment you guy just disconnect your TCS system if the dealer could not find what's wrong, or you have to spend a treasure for the replacement of whole TCS system.

If vacuum leaks are the problem they are easilly repaired - usually just some new hose and/or connecting T. But.....not at the dealer ! However, if solenoids, relays and logic units are the problem you may as well find a good independent mechanic to disconnect it and forget about it. Dealer will tell you it can not be done but I have had it done on two Millenias (I think removing appropriate relays disables the unit and warning light as well). Unless you have about 2 large available to throw at it it is just as easy to do without it.

Is there a way to disconnect the TCS module. I will be going get the check engine code later today. I will probably just rather disconnect it. Please help.

It's the air bypass valve circuit( one of 3 or 4 of the vacuum hoses)

I had the same problem as everyone else. The tcs light would come on and the car would stutter on acceleration. If I pulled over and restarted the engine the tcs light would go out and the car would function fine until it happened again and then I would pull over and start the engine again and the tcs light would go off but the check engine light would then be on until I started and stopped the car many times and then the cycle would begin again. The Millenia S 1995 and up have a OBD II diagnostic port. It's under the dash on the driver side on the right side of the steering wheel. I put my code reader on it and it said Air bypass valve. I checked the hoses and sure enough one of the smaller hoses was cracked and wouldn't hold vacuum. This made sense because the tcs light never came on when I was going steady on the freeway(plenty of vacuum) but would always occur at low speed or stop and go traffic(low vacuum hence a small leak would impact performance). Hope this helps. By the way the location of the air bypass valve is shown under the hood of the car where you are shown the vacuum schematic.
