Anyone experience idling and hesitation problems with your 1999 Mazda 626 LX-V6??? (Worse with the air on?)

Any advice/tips on what you did to fix it would be great.

What i've done:

New timing belt, plugs, air filter. That's it.

No engine check lights on, either.

I had a similar problem with my 99 V6. There are several other things you need to do:

1. replace you spark plug wires. You should do this every 60K. I read some complaints that carbon was building up between spark plug wire boot and the plug. Not very likely, but replacing the wires will eliminate stumbling and noticeable miss if one wire goes bad. Go with the original NGK (blue) wires. Mazda sells them as original equipment, but you can get them elsewhere as well

2. clean the throttle body of all carbon. I believe that your hesitation is caused primarily by carbon buildup on the injector. Have the injectors cleaned by a Mazda dealer or buy several botles of Techron and run them through (mix with the gas in your tank).

3. stay away from cheap gas and stay with brand vron, or Texaco.

If you do what I described above, chances are you will fix the hesitation problem.

For further info, check edmunds.com, click car discussions, then Mazda, then 626. The hesitattion problem is described in several forums. The most frequent cuase is carbon build-up - both in the throttle body and the injectors.

i had similar problem on my 98 626v6, fixed by changing plugs and wires. use iridiums plugs only.

Why iridium plugs? I replaced mine with the original equipment platinum Denso plugs and they are doing just fine. However, I tend to believe that for some reason these Denso plugs do not last very long. My first set looked quite worn at 60K miles.

I changed plug wires on mine this morning...wow what a difference.
