I have tried to find the programming instructions for the remote on the keyless entry for my 1995 929. People have been very kind in responding however many different methods have been offered.

The remote has an fcc id no. kpu 41012, has anybody actually progarmmed one of these units with a particular programming method, successfully? In addition these remotes seem to be very expensive and hard to come by, other than at the dealer. Does anybody have any idea if a very similar looking remote with a kpu of 41015 or 41048 work with this car and is the programming the same?

Thanks for your help.

Open the drivers door. Put the key in the ignition.
With your left hand push the door switch in 3 times then turn the ignition on and off 3 times fast, wait for the beeps then hit any button on the remote.
You can find remotes on Ebay cheap.

Thanks for you help and advice. Sorry for my ignorance, however when you mentioned the door switch I assume you meant the driver's door switch under the handle not the switch marked "LOCK" which controls all the doors. In addition when you indicated to turn the car on and off I assume you mean actually starting the engine not just turning the key to the "ON" position. The reason for my inquiry is that the instructions did not yield the beeping tou referred, hence the program did not activate.

I mean the door jamb switch that turns the dome light on and off when opening/closing the door. Turn the ignition on but do not start the car.

got this from somewhere

1. Open driver's door and lock ALL four doors with the master LOCK button on driver's door.
2. Unlock ONLY the driver's door by pushing up the other lock button at the left of the inside door handle so it shows the red portion. The other 3 doors must remain locked.
3. Put the ignition key in the ignition and turn to ON but do not start car. Turn key to OFF.
4. Remove key COMPLETELY out of ignition.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 TWO more times for a total of THREE "in and outs".
6. Open and close the driver's door THREE times, so that the interior lights flash on and off each time OR push the rubber covered light button on the rear of driver's door jam three times.
7. After a few seconds, maybe less, you should hear the chime (same chime that indicates lights are on or key is in ignition with driver's door open or seat belt is undone).
8. Push the LOCK button on the first remote TWICE with little time between pushes.
9. Wait for chime again, maybe several chimes in a row. (I think I got two or three "dings").
10. After this set of chimes, push the LOCK button TWICE on the second remote to be programmed. You should get another chime or series of chimes.
11. After this final chime(s), test each remote to confirm that both work.
This is the standard programming series but you will find modifications from other sources such as "push any button on remote" or "turn key to ACC".
