Do you know if the car has a speed limiting governor on it? That really seems slow for a millenia. My Accord will do over 140 and it's a 4cyl auto!!

Yes, I did know that it did have a govenor on it however it should do better than that before it kicks in.

Got some news for you. No 4 cyl Honda Accord will do 140 MPH - the speedometer is reading way too highb if you are honest about this, or you have 15 MPH tailwind. The car simply does not have enough horsepower to go 140MPH. To go 140 MPH in an Accord size car you need at least 190 HP, e.g. 1999 Nissan Maxima. My 99 626 ES V6 5 speed will probably top out around 130 MPH and it has 170 HP and low gearing. Millenia with a 2.5 l V6(identical to my 626) should probably be good for close to 130 MPH without a governor.

Well you can quote what you like .. stock size tires on the 98 EX 195/65R 15 so the speedo was acurate at the time, over 220km/h oops .. my mistake .. closer to 138mph sorry .. but even still I had over 1000 left on the tach. I have no reason to lie about my speed as I'm sure there's plenty of vehicles MUCH faster than my accord, including the Millenia and probably even the 626 V6. It's not a race car .. and frighteningly loose at that speed. Your opinion is your own but don't be so quick to disbelieve something someone tells you. If I has said it would easily go over 160mph .. like someone said of their 626 in this forum .. yeah .. you'd prolly have a case there. The accord certainly has it's limits .. but 130mph certainly isn't one of them.

Speedometers usually read too high on cars - if it was indicating 220 Km/h, it was probably about 210 at most. I have read dozens and dozens of new car test reports where they used radar to verify speedometer accuracy and almost without exception they were reading too high for any given speed. Just because you had another 1000 RPM left on the tachometer, does not mean that you would get the car to the red line in top gear - the aerodynamic drag becomes too high for the given horsepower to overcome.

For example, my 99 626 ES V6 will not do 140 MPH and it has more power than your Accord. And lower gearing. The tachometer will show about 6000 RPM at 120MPH. I can get it to about 6500 RPM at 130 MPH but that is it. I cannot hit the redline of 7000 RPM in 5th gear, even with good tailwind. My car has 170 HP, more than your Accord and it is a 6 cylinder with a 5 speed manual, of very comparable size and weight, front wheel drive, DOHC engine design, so I do not see how it coud possibly be any slower than a 4 cylinder Accord.

I used to own a 1992 Mazda Protege with a 125 HP DOHC engine. It was a light compact car with a fairly powerful engine, but the top speed was onoy 120MPH, or 195 km/h.

I thank you for the information however is there anything that you could recomend that would help me get more push from my car. I am not a racer however I believe that i need the speed to show up those kids that believe that their new car sports car is the best. I believe that I am a better driver than most of them so if my car had a little more push I believe that I could put them in the place. I have no more ideas that would help in my sitution.

Buy a chip for the PCM and have it installed. Buy headers and high flow exhaust. Port the throttlebody.

It must take you over 6 miles to get to 160 in that tin can.

You will never get 160MPH out of any stock Mazda Millenia, unless you drop it out of an aeroplane from sufficient altitude.

I just have to say I've done 130mph in my 89 929 and it had a lot left to go easily, and it really has no mods but I did take the cat out, a lot better without that damn cat.
