Anybody here familiar with 86-87 626's? Need helpAugust 2 2003 at 9:39 PM No score for this post | Flying Monkey |
| I've got a 1986 626 GT I picked up 5 years ago for $250. I don't have more than $1K in it at this point, it's my beater. At 212k miles, it's got some oil leakage & the front suspension is about shot to hell. Half-shafts & clutch need to be replaced, also. It has never left me stranded!
Anyway, I just picked up an 86 2.0i for $75 last week for parts. Does anybody know if there are any internal differences between the turbo'd & NA motors? The parts car supposedly has 38k on a rebuilt & a week old clutch. It was rear ended hard a few days after the clutch ws replaced. I'm contemplating just swapping the motor/trans/front suspension into the beater & then putting the turbo on the beater.
Anybody that knows about these older 626's, please let me know at flyingmo<NOFREAKINGSPAM>nkeytfc@yahoo.com. |

Non-turbo has lower compression. You could still run a turbo on a non-turbo engine but you will have to lower the turbo boost or you will blow the engine quickly. Otherwise it will work, though i don't think the non-turbo block has a drainback plug for turbo oiling. | |
