in the past month both of my front door handles have broken.I opened it up and the plastic hook that pulls the latch open has broken off. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a recall on this? It seems pretty weird that it happened to both so soon I'm not a happy Mazada owner right now! Anybody else having this problem?
Thanks, Chuck

Usually from attempted theft of the car i'm afraid.

I don't think it was from a theft attempt more like faulty product.

I doubt it. That is not a common problem.

I could see that if it were the outside handles but this is the inside door handles. They have plastic hooks that pull the opening mechanism and they have both snapped off I think if someone had been trying to break in to the car and had gotten that far inside there would definately be signs around the windows and doors. None are there. Basically the little silver handles are plastic and the little hooks that are on the aren't very strong because these haven't been abused just used to get in and out. Maybe me and the wife are stronger that I think!LOL! Oh well I was just wondering if it was just mine or if others had the same problem I guess I'll get them replaced and maybe the new ones will last 3 more years!LOL! By then maybe I can buy a Miata and won't have to worry about doors!LOLOL!!!!

The rod that those go to is what a slimjim hits when trying to steal a car. They are also the weakest link. I have'nt seen any break by themselves unless very old.
