626 box under seat

I bought a 91 626 for my son that has what looks like an OEM box under the passenger seat about 12" x 12" x 3" with a circular grill about 4" around that might be for a small speaker. Could it be a subwoofer? A security alarm? A seat belt alarm? Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks!

Nope. Unplug it and check your auto seatbelts. It's not a speaker.

Nope. I have replaced 30 or 40 of them. The box under the passenger seat is not a speaker. It is without a doubt a seatbelt control unit. Just unplug the freaking thing and see for yourself.

The holes are not speaker holes. Why can you not just go unplug it and see that your auto seatbelts don't work? If you can't accomplish such a small task then you should'nt be posting.

Would you back off, Mr. Doesn't-want-his-name-known-but-sure-enjoys-
passing-judgment-on-others?

This is the first time I've checked back for answers to my simple question and find you guys squaring off for a duel!

I'll unplug the god damn thing as soon as my son gets home from work. Is that soon enough for you?

Thanks for your EARLIER responses. You may continue squabbling if you wish.

Mark

Your comment " Why can you not just go unplug it and see that your auto seatbelts don't work?" implies that you were addressing the person asking the question. That was me.

I'm sure your expertise is considerable. There is no need to take offense if someone differs in their opinion, and even less need to insult them. What goes around comes around...

I unplugged the box and the seatbelts and buzzers still work. Also found a brand name (Matsushita) on the box and the company makes a subwoofer. Looks like we'll have good tunes after I replace the non-functional cassette deck! Thanks all.
