I am selling my '95 Mazda 626 ES. The are a few trivial things I wanted to fix to help it sell better. 1. I remember seeing that something could be done about yellowish headlights. 2. Battery is low on remote. Can it be replaced without being reprogrammed. If not how hard are they to reprogram. 3. Key does not work in trunk. 4. Sporatic engine light which I believe is related to an oil leak. Oil pressure sensor has already been replacedbut there is still some oil appearing on the engine. I am afraid to take it in for fear I'll get ripped off.
Best car I've ever owned, but 145,000 is enough for me. Thanks.

Changing battery in keyless remote

You should be able to change battery without losing programming if you do it within 30 seconds. That is the usual time delay for various remotes, from cars to TV's to garage door openers etc.

I sanded them with very fine sand paper and that took the yellow away mostly. I don't remember what they looked light new, but they look much better without the yellow.

Suggest using plastic plish on the headlights. They sell this stuff in auto parts stores. It is used for removing small scratches from plastic motorcycle windscreens and similar items. I would not use sandpaper - it is much too coarse. You could also try using car polishing compound with a buffing wheel but do not overbuff if using a power buffer because you can actually burn the plastic.
