This is a 92 Cab plus with a turn to 90K while driving on the interstate at higher speeds in the mountains we live in.....After coming off the interstate, driving about 1.3 miles from the interstate, the light came on then after a minute or so went back off. I have never experienced this before....though I've owned many Mazda's, mostly newer, this truck has been so bullet proof that I have kept it.
The possibilities, what could they be? If the light goes off, I believe the ECU doesn't register a code unless it stays on? As for it turning 90K I believe there is a recommended adjust for the timing chain to make sure it is properly working, otherwise, I cannot think of anything else unless something EMI related as in the cad. converter was extremely hot??? I've known the Mazda's and worked at a dealership for eons but it has been 4 years since then and I cannot remember the protocol as they changed year to year....the 92 still I think has the dual ECU one mitsubishi and one Mazda??? I don't think it is an ECU malfunction, I may think it stems from a higher speed drive on the interstate for 40 minutes. Higher speed as in almost floored and 80 up hill from 500ft to 2400ft elevation, then driving average of 85. By the way, I've done a complete restoration on it 4+ years ago but didn't change the box the filter goes in, I know in some instances that has gone wrong in the throttle body....
Just basically, what do I check/change.....I don't ever remember changing the O2 sensor but literally everything else has either been cleaned or replaced. Engine wise, no leaks, the thing is shiny inside with my using fully synthetic Mobile 1 and factory filters.
What to do?? I live 5 or so miles from the largest junk yard in the nation....Harry's U Pull It in Hazleton, Pa.....so if it is a part, whatever let me know. Also, while I'm there if needed, and someone needs a part I'll be glad to check on that too. They've got well over 500 Mazda's there.....
Thanks in advance.
