At first I thought it was a dead battery, so I got a new one from AAA who came out and installed it on site. Car eventually dies. Then I took it to my mechanic and asked him to look at the starter or alternator. He says they both check out fine and it's the battery, so he puts in a new one. Less than two weeks later my car dies during rush hour traffic. Back at the mechanic he says I have a bad alternator, so, angrily, I say fix it. Again, this time at night, I'm driving and the lights inside and out are getting lower(luckily I make it home). The next day it doesn't start at all. I'm so frustrated that I don't do anything about it for about 2 months. I finally take it back to the same mechanic (because of the warranty) and he tells me they put in a bad alternator and fix it for free. Great. That was almost two weeks ago. Now I haven't driven my car since this past Monday but tonight I went to start it and IT WON'T START!! Did I let it sit too long(5 days) since last driven or is it something else?

Corrodes or bad battery cable connections, either at the battery or at the starter/engine block. A new battery/alternator will not fix this problem. Loosen the battery cables (both positive and negative), carefully inspect the cable terminations and pull on them to make sure they are on tight. (I have seen battery cable lugs corroded from inside so you could not tell just by looking at them). It is quite likely that you may have a loose/corroded negative battery cable where it attaches to the engine block.

Thank You! I will definately give that a try. It sounds like something I can do myself, I hope!
